I do meditate. Either sitting, lying down, swimming, or walking. Meditation is my medication of choice. I posted a lengthy comment on your site. I practice Mindfulness Meditation.
These thoughts do come to me when I stop the monkey chatter in my head.
Ooh! Really? (And thank you – I look forward to reading your comment.) These are so very cool. And I’m so very seriously serious about the meditation. I want this to be something that works and that I stick with. Maybe I’m trying too hard.
Start small. One minute. Then five. If you stick with it, you’ll crave it, like a feel-good drug. It’s amazing how meditation can rewire the brain. But remember, not every meditation will be ideal. Sometimes the mind is just too jumpy, or the body is too squirmy. It’s all part of the practice, accepting the jumpiness and squirminess. I highly recommend Jon Kabat Zinn’s 4-CD set, “Mindfulness Meditation.” Two CDs talk you through yoga poses (which I never listen to), one CD is a relaxing body scan (good for releasing tension), and one CD is a 45-minute guided meditation. You can listen to it all, or stop after ten minutes, or fifteen, or whatever. Eventually, you’ll be able to meditate without the CD. The neat thing is that he reminds you to bring your thoughts back to the breath (or body, or sound, or whatever the focus is). So if your mind wanders, you’ll remember to bring it back.
I heard that Sattva has some great meditation apps if you want to go that route.
….and remember that eventually the light comes back and the sun comes out!
Yes! Above the clouds, it’s always sunny.
There are always going to be times of darkness and times of light. It’s just a fact about the world, I guess.
Night and day. Yin and yang. Black and white. Up and down. Heads and tails. That’s the world for ya.
Are these just cool quotes (they are!) or are they actually thoughts that come to you while meditating? Do you meditate? I just posted about this.
